Our Story

Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, nestled amidst sal, segun and piyal trees lies Salboni Retreat; a haven for travellers looking for relaxation. Only 170 km away from Kolkata, Salboni Retreat is the perfect weekend getaway spread over a peaceful twelve acres.

History behind the Heritage: Maharaja Narasingha Mollyadev, Zamindar of Jhargram handed over his estate “Salboni Retreat” to a British Collector Mr. Arthur Malcolm Cutts in 1936. Mr. Cutts expired in 1941 and property was taken over by his Legal head, Mr. Donald Edward Borthwick & was appointed as the sole executor of the estate.

Food and Beverages

To serve with love is our motto. Food is included in tariff. The following meals are provided:

  • Breakfast (8.00 am – 9.00 am)
  • Lunch (1.00 pm – 2.30 pm)
  • Dinner (9.00 pm - 10.30 pm)

The food is light, fresh and delicious.

  • Breakfast: Bread-Jam/Butter, Puri-Sabji/Chholar Daal, Cornflakes with Milk, Maggi/Noodles, Egg-Boil/Sunshine up/Omelette/Scramble, Seasonal Fruits & Tea Coffee.
  • Lunch is usually a Bengali delicious starting with Ghee , daal & bhaja, followed by 2 vegetarian dish such as mocha or lau, followed by 1 Non veg and then chatni and papad and sweet.
  • Dinner usually is chicken and pulao/roti or Chinese
  • Evening Snacks: A La Carte - Any Kind of Veg or Non Veg Fried/Tandoori / Tikka item with Papad , Salad & Peanuts.

Vegetarian options are available on request, but needs to be mentioned at the time of booking. Let us know if you are prone to any allergies (such as prawns, nuts etc.) We can cater that too, provided you mention it at the time of booking.

Getting there

How to reach from Kolkata:

By car: Drive up Kona Expressway and then NH16 towards Kharagpur and then on to NH49. Drive to Lodhasuli (avoid the elevated expressway) and take a right from under the elevated expressway towards Jhargram. The retreat is located 5 Kms from Lodhasuli.

By train: Take the early morning Ispat Express from Howrah to reach Jhargram by 9.30 am. Take a pre-booked car or Toto to Salboni Retreat (10Km).
